Pyracy - the Pirate Reenactors Website

Ahoy there mateys, welcome to Pyracy.co.uk. This website is for pirate reenactors everywhere, but with a focus on the scene in the UK.

Pirate reenactment has been growing in popularity in the UK over the last few years and crews can now be found all round the country.

There has also been an increase in the number of pirate events or events where pirates have taken part.

From Morwellham to Tewkesbury, from Colchester to Hartlepool, from Whitehaven to the Isle of Sheppey or from Chatham to Wimbledon the opportunities to engage in pirate capers are on the increase with event organisers realising the benefits of organising pirate or pirate-themed events and this site will be here to record and promote the scene. We'll also look to provide a focal point for anyone looking to organise pirate events when in search of a crew or crews to take part in their event.

To this end, we will endeavour to keep a tally of as many pirate crews or groups that can provide reenactors to take part in piracy events in the UK as is possible with links to their websites, should they have one. If not, we'll try and make available information on how to contact the crews concerned so that any crew listed here can be contacted.

We'll also look to keep you up to date with any specific pirate events and, hopefully, maritime events that aren't pirate-themed but have a pirate presence.

There'll be a separate section on this site for links to companies selling clothing, equipment, armoury, camping equipment or any other paraphernalia needed to reenact the pirate way of life.

We'll also have links to other pirate resources, including information on pirate history, details of clothing, types of ships used, equipment and weaponry that pirates used, links to other pirate resource sites like this one (though most of these seem to be based in the US they are useful all the same) and any other site that is deemed to be useful in helping the pirate scene.

We've also got a gallery section planned so that you can have a look to see what pirate reenacting is all about.

If you're interested in joining the scene, a lot of the crews listed are open to new members joining. Or, perhaps, you're already in the process of setting up your own crew and looking to publicise your new crew. If so, then this site is designed to help you out in that regard on top of it's aim to detail the pirate scene in the UK today.

Content is a bit thin at the moment seeing as this is a new site but, hopefully, content will be added regularly so keep checking out Pyracy for the latest pirate reenactment info.
